Changing Scenarios Of Consumer Preferencesâ€Myassigngmenthelp.Com

Question: Examine About The Changing Scenarios Of Consumer Preferences? Answer: Presentation In the ever-changing situations of purchaser inclinations, recently creating advances and the longing of development by the present age of business people, the essential methodology of any business association is to be as much special and agreeable in its items and administrations as it can get. For any association, the fundamental purpose of interface with its shoppers must be its workers, and keeping in mind that managing any customer/purchaser, a representative speaks to the association. As agents, they have the ability to make or blemish a companys picture with their lead and practices. So as to accomplish shopper fulfillment and unwaveringness, it is vital for any association that their representatives are agreeable in their workplace, and that any data they may have with respect to the plan of action of the organization can be considered. In such manner, organizations, which hope to tackle the firsthand experience and the input from their representatives, need to furnish them w ith a specific degree of opportunity to communicate their thoughts for development and anxieties of any present arrangements. While a worker is permitted to scrutinize the current arrangements of an organization, he may feel increasingly associated with the organization, and instill a feeling of responsibility.(Lapointe, 2014) This awareness of other's expectations towards the association can demonstrate gainful and diminish representative disappointment at same time. Worker strengthening is a viable route by which a representative can be inspired to accomplish the best outcomes ,by furnishing them with a feeling of administration , a level of dynamic , and fusing their place of perspectives during the time spent business the board . This exposition reflects upon the developing requirement for representative strengthening as it empowers an association to take quick choices, while talking about the manners by which it assists with remaining ahead among contenders. Representative Empowerment Strengthening can be depicted as an approach to improve an individual or a communitys extent of control and dynamic so as to make them increasingly mindful and take control. When seen from the representatives perspective, it is as a route for them to feel engaged at a specific level, by giving them reasonable capacity to take choices all alone. For a representative to be engaged on specific issues, it is basic that the senior individual who orders the person in question really give up that power.(Frisch, 2011)For model, if a sales rep is given the opportunity to offer a minor increment in limits given to specific clients whom he thinks about significant, he may feel that he has a level of freedom while managing them. On the off chance that the advertising chief who directs the sales rep chooses to supersede his proposal, at that point the strengthening doesn't hold any esteem, for the worker to feel genuinely enabled the showcasing director should really concur with the sales rep and stand by to see the outcomes. While this strengthening might possibly get brings about each case, it guarantees that a representative doesn't feel he was hampered by choices forced on him by his seniors. This diminishes the odds of contention and complaint towards the administration. The procedure of strengthening can be distinctive for various sorts of associations; all in all, it follows an example of stages where the need of enabling, the money related part of the strengthening, contribution of the workers and comparable elements are thought of. As per Bandura (1986), the entire procedure of worker strengthening experiences five distinctive stages.(Conger Kanungo, 1988) The principal stage includes breaking down the issues, which the representatives are confronting that cause them to feel frail in their association. This stage additionally reflects upon the idea of occupation, the generally happening issues with representatives that may assist with calculating an example which prompts the second phase of the strengthening procedure, where the workers are given objectives to accomplish inside a time period and an input is looked for every now and then so as to make changes in the associations system. To accomplish the ideal objectives, representatives can be given a level of freedom in taking choices, which encourages them to pick up certainty and simultaneously increment their profitability. The third stage includes furnishing the representatives with significant data that can assist them with increasing more knowledge into the plan of action of the organization. This stage additionally requires a trough to examine with a worker about the best possible utilization of his dynamic such that benefits the organization, by utilizing specialized expertise and experience. After this stage, when it is o bvious that a representative is prevailing with regards to executing his dynamic capacities, he can be remunerated for accomplishing objectives by advancing his activity. This should be possible by extending his extent of work. This causes a worker to feel progressively significant at work and builds the exertion he puts in.The last phase of usage includes a survey of the destinations and expelling any obstacles in the strengthening procedure by tending to any conduct parts of the representative. Accordingly, strengthening is a consistent procedure where improves a representatives recognition about his work. There are three unique methodologies for representative strengthening programs. These are proposal inclusion, Job association and high involvement(Chand, 2016). Proposal inclusion is a little improvement over the control model, where representatives are welcome to introduce their thoughts through gathering gatherings or formal overviews. While it is a decent method to get input, it doesn't bring about any adjustment in the work profile of a representative. In this manner, it very well may be considered as the most fragile type of strengthening, since it just furnishes the workers with a chance to propose something. An increasingly compelling way could be work association, as it moves from the order model. The occupations relegated to representatives depend on their aptitudes and the undertakings are so that their abilities are put to test. In this type of strengthening, the representatives feel increasingly significant about their occupations since it identified with their field so they have a superior comprehension about how to carry out their responsibility and they have an away from about their extent of work. While Job association brings in parcel of strengthening and feeling of certainty about the activity, it doesn't address the procedure of higher dynamic and employment portion, as a ranking director concludes whom to designate occupations and given prizes. This can sabotage the entire premise of strengthening, if the activity designations are not done appropriately. A more profound methodology is high inclusion, where the lower level workers are given a feeling of association both as far as their individual occupations, and in the presentation of their gatherings. They additionally share a typical duty towards the associations working and are joined to the companys results in general unit. This methodology expects data to be shared consistently over the association, paying little mind to a workers position. A normally utilized strategy for high inclusion is for promoting offices where organizations give benefit sharing on deals to its advertising individual. This sort of course of action causes him to feel progressively autonomous and persuades the representatives to investigate new roads to sell an item or administration. Focal points And Disadvantages Representative strengthening is the present typical for any association, particularly in situations where there is more interface with buyers, as in the event of FMCGs .Nowadays workers need to step past the limits of the association so as to work according to their common instinct.(Chamorro-Premuzic Garrad, 2017)While the act of enabling them through different methods is quick picking up money, a similar procedure can likewise represent a danger to the association, on the off chance that it isn't directed in a period bound way. For instance, if a showcasing division gives an excessive amount of freedom to a worker to advertise its items, he may depend on terrible practices, for example, falsehood about the item. He might be enticed to misrepresent his items benefits so as to affirm a deal, consequently putting the brand picture in danger. Besides, he may likewise be dampened on the off chance that others can gather better deal figure because of distinction in working territories or different reasons.(Williams, 2012) These are a portion of the unanticipated weaknesses an organization may confront if the strengthening of their representatives isn't directed all the time. Moreover, the enabled representatives now and then get dormant about their work. Like on account of Hindustan Motors , a main engine vehicle organization in India till the 1980s , it had to suspend creation in 2015 , because of absence of development in its item. At the point when organizations like Ford, Suzuki, and Maruti were growing more eco-friendly and better-looking vehicles, HM just made minor updates to its top rated model, the Ambassador, and sought after deals to pick up.(Bothra, 2014) That sort of disappointment is inappropriate in today has vicious rivalry and the main consideration was inaction of its administration throughout the years. Accordingly, while worker strengthening is attractive in todays situation, there should be appropriate harmony between free rule and all out contr ol. Despite the extraordinary chances, that representative strengthening gets an association; there are a few issues that may manifest when a worker is given undue bit of leeway in his position.(Reddy, 2016) A worker is at a lower position during the beginning of his vocation in light of the fact that there is an evident truth of him being less experienced than others are. A fresher for the most part has less oversight over issues of significance and may neglect to perceive the drawn out impacts of a decision.(Staw Ross, 1987) These workers, on the off chance that they are given a state in the issues of significant procedure making, can, best case scenario be an obstruction all the while. Since they have a momentary vision and less comprehension of the general business cycle , they may not be useful in these issues .Besid

CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF GLOBALIZATION Causes and Resolution Techniques of Workplace Conflict Abstract As globalization continuing progressed around in all countries during which acquired by the ability of transportation, advance of technologies and authoritative all-embracing international trade and enterprise is cost effective. However, there are some furnishings from the globalization which allegedly can be classified as absolute furnishings and abrogating effects. The abrogating furnishings of globalization are bribery of a nation and communicable countries by bearing actinic decay and air pollution. Meanwhile, advance of apprenticeship throughout world is one of the absolute abandon of globalization. Thus, the all-embracing association should endeavor by deepening the all-embracing banking system, through international financial system, trade and aid to advice the poorest countries accommodate into the a abridgement so that allows them to abound added rapidly and cut d own the abjection in that decidedly country. By this way, all people from all countries accept a adventitious to accretion allowances from the globalization process. Finally, people should apprehend that although we can analyze and analyses the action of globalization, we should not brainstorm that this action of globalization will go on always and that this action is irreversible Causes and Effects of Globalization Globalization from the discussion all organization, the overextension throughout the world and the intended of accepting a globalized association is to accept alternation of the world and its people with the affair of self-development and self-interests. Now days, people can calmly affiliated to each other than before. In fact advice and money transferring faster than ever around, the world. Besides, country are more advance to all locations of the world. This amazing phenomenon can be declared as by globalization. Basically, globalization is the alternation a part of countries in adjustment to advance the all-around abridgement and society. Moreover, action such as bounded economies, societies and cultures that had contributed decidedly to the development of all-around arrangement of communication, global network, transportation and trade is classified as globalization. Globalization is fast anytime growing force that afflicted the world into bigger active abode and key factors that accord to globalization are the ability of all embracing transportation, advance of the technologies and making international trade and profitable. Globalization is the action that has been growing on for the accomplished 5000 years, but it had added acutely back the bribery of the Soviet Union in1991(Riggs. 2000). At the alpha date of globalization abstraction is referred to by restructure the world economy during the backward twentieth century. The globalization carefully accent on the accelerated change in the technical, social, political and territorial al ignment of investment, assembly and trade. Besides, a lot of accessible change that acquired by globalization are the Auto nationalization of communication, business assembly and backroom which had added the animation of the bazaar appeal and the cardinal ascendance of banking basic as well specialized services. In fact, the key agency of (NGOs) and another government alignment (AGOs). Globalization is as well accepted as action four ambits which are bread-and-butter globalization, the accumulation of world outlook, democratization and political globalization. Noticeably, globalization is a comparer and arguable trends that cover abstruse developments, cultural dynamics and authoritative strategies for all-around antagonism which had accretion back 1980s. Currently, the globalization upsurge been apprenticed by the behavior that economies to be opened domestically and internationally so that all-embracing automated and banking business anatomy to abound rapidly in all countries. In fact, the key agency that triggers globalization is the progressive technologies that afflicted people life. One of the causes of globalization is the adeptness of all-embracing of International transportation as an important aspect of all all-around market. All International transportation refers to a bureau that causes International trade to extend; international trade requires infrastructures which can back trade between several companies. In the meantime haft of the global trade , transpires amongst other locations of added than 3000 kilometers away, a lot of all international goods movements absorb several modes abnormally if the destination are far abroad from each other. One of the rewards of Maritime shipping and air transport are it handles about 90 percent of the all global trade which includes a alternation of getaways acceding admission to main production and consumption region (Jean, 2010). Meanwhile, the reputation of air transport carriage is, it carries internatio nal air freight which is about 70 times more costly than its maritime counterpart (Jean, 2010). The active agency that leads to the action of globalization is the advance of the advice technologies (IT) which had afflicted the world dramatically. In the early1990s, the development of computer hardware, software and telecommunication had acquired the advanced advance improvements in admission to advice and economical potential. Advice technologies provide the advice network that facilitates the accession of products, account and assets a part of nations and people throughout the world (Bestshy, 2010). Since, appliance of IT advance abnormally accelerated about every aspect of activity in this automated societies are depend on the artefact based aloft and added advice technology. For instance, alone scientists were application the internet had adapted into commercial networks, which allows users to accomplish transactions, for businesses to administer the breeze of assembly inputs and markets products. IT makes activity easier for people as it provides websites, chat room, instant messaging, systems, e-mails and added internet based advice arrangement to contact and exchanging account with each other. (Information, technology and globalization, 2006). Briefly accession of IT had afflicted association acutely and accept created new jobs answer the advance of new markets and added international trade and investment. Another could cause that triggers accelerated globalization is making international trade and action profitable. Economist believed that globalization increases the bread-and-butter befalling and abundance to the developing world. International trade become significantly profitable throughout the process of openness to foreign direct investment stimulating of domestic capital formation and enhancing efficiency and productivity by the foreign direct investment can contribute to the economic growth. Indeed, barter liberalization is begin to access bread-and-butter opportunities for customer and producers to lift up earning for workforce and that beneath greater artlessness to trade, assets tend to be reallocated abroad from beneath able activities and appear advantageous activities. Surprisingly, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) managed to allure the artlessness appear the charge less breeze of capital, which leads to the development of calm investment and accord to application bearing for bread-and-butter growth. For instance, the advance of growth to world trade can be reflected by the access of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in developing countries which had added from USD 2.2 billion in 1970 to USD 154 billion in 1997 and resulted in national capital market to become integrated significantly (Zaher, 2008). Banking artlessness absolutely helps to access the abyss and across of calm banking markets which could cause to access the ability in banking markets through lower costs and bigger assets allocation. These are the t hree causes that buried the seeds for accelerated globalization and the furnishings of globalization that people will face are the corruption, abuse and the advance of education. The number one effect of globalization is the bribery of economic and political in the accurate developed country. As developed nations increases the captivation in world economy, the strengths of the banking and government institutions are put into test. If the institutions are strong, the economic assets from globalization but if they are weak, aggregate of assets are absent which leads to the bribery of the nations. In fact, the bankruptcies of so abounding companies as well affect the government because banks will accrue loans while accident ethics of audience due to recession-government which depend on company taxes and banks will act abhorrent abridgement in acquirement and development expenditures which leads to the bribery of a nation (Mahathir, 2002, 230). Besides, corruption affects the poorest co untry the most, especially poorer countries as they usually export agricultural good which does not make a lot of profit as larger countries provide all sorts of financial aid such subsidies for their farmers to lower the market price under the free trade (Shah,2008). Corruption of a nation would most likely probably undermine development and degrade inequality, altering the decision for making in favor projects that benefits the nation and increase the debt of the nation as a result of lost in global economy. One of the bad furnishings of globalization is abuse that is acquired by factories such as actinic decay and air pollution. A lot of the manufactures nowadays are just throwing the decay chemicals into the adjacent river which produces air pollution without bearing in mind about the cleanliness of the environment. All that appear into their apperception is the profits after aggravation about the after-effects of accomplishing such things. Amount of advisers considers that t here is a band amid assets per capita and the ambiance area abrogating an after-effect ascent with per capita assets able-bodied developed nationsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ area per capita is low, and more pressing social needs enjoy priority over environmental regulation adjustment are needed (Roan, 2010). Negative effects on the environment such as air pollution still occurs although the governments in some developed countries enforced rules on the protections of the environment. In addition, globalization contributes air pollution because big industry takes opportunity from careless environmental controls in developing nations and moves its manufacturing facilities to such pollution asylum ´ from where air pollution travels around the globe of world without obstacles (Pollution Effects on Humans, Animals, Plants and the Environment, 2008). Globalization has a positive side as well and the positive effect globalization is the spread of education. Education is vital for people as it acts like an instrument to enhance our knowledge, develop our skills and talent that can produce educated workforce that will be a great profit to the country in the future (Yoho et al. ND, 11).The massive spread of education at all levels because the consequence of widely available schooling as a result of globalization process in this century. Regarding the role of schools globalization has become significant chapter of study especially in the field of comparative education, which applies social theories. Besides, the effects of globalization on education also triggers the development in technology and communications such as innovation of learning system across the world such as ideas and knowledge to adapt the students into information based society. It helps in shaping children to be the future citizen into global citizen who are intelligent with broad range of knowledge to apply in the competitive society and thus reflects the cultural imperialism (Cinema, 2005). Education system now face the dual challenge of producing students with the fundamentals knowledge, skills and value needed to be spirited in a global market while at the time producing graduates who are responsible to be good citizen towards their country and the world.12 Conclusion In conclusion, as globalization continuing progressed around in all countries during this aeon which acquired by the ability of transportation, advance of technologies and authoritative all-embracing international trade and enterprise is cost effective. However, there are some furnishings from the globalization which allegedly can be classified as absolute furnishings and abrogating effects. The abrogating furnishings of globalization are bribery of a nation and communicable countries by bearing actinic decay and air pollution. Meanwhile, advance of apprenticeship throughout apple is one of the absolute abandon of globalization. Thus, the all-embracing association should endeavor by deepening the all-embrac ing banking system, through international financial system, trade and aid to advice the atomic countries accommodate into the a abridgement so that allows them to abound added rapidly and cut down the abjection in that decidedly country. By this way, all people from all countries accept a adventitious to accretion allowances from the globalization process. Finally, people should apprehend that although we can analyze and analyses the action of globalization, we should not brainstorm that this action of globalization will go on always and that this action is irreversible Reference Anup,S. 2010. College Admissions For Student Athletes

HomeFinancial aidScholarshipsA Student Athletes Path to College Tips From An ExpertThis page may contain affiliate links.Oct 14, 2019Does a student-athletes path to college differ from that of a non-athletes? We discussed this topic with Michele Larson of Knowledge4College during a Facebook Live, and she filled us in about what student- athletes should focus on before they apply. Here’s what she advised†¦ A Holistic Approach For Student-Athletes While not an athletic recruiter, Michele does advise many students who have aspirations to play college sports. She takes a holistic approach with them in that she reminds them that â€Å"you go to college to get a job, and playing sports is a bonus.† Her recommended strategy is that students first find out what they’re suited to do, then find the colleges that would be a good fit, and THEN contact the coach. In addition, making an honest assessment of how good you are is also important. What’s the â€Å"Hope Surely Method?† â€Å"We HOPE we’re going to get seen† and â€Å"SURELY the coaches will notice us.† This is a method that Michele has seen many parents and their students follow†¦to no avail. Her advice is that accolades at the high school level very rarely transfer to the college level, and no one will automatically see you and notice you without proper planning and intervention. Facts About College Sports Associations There are two primary college sports associations: The NCAA is very well-known. The NAIA is not as well-known and lesser tiered, however, if you’re passionate about sports, it’s an organization you should get to know, as it has the most money at its disposal. Different Divisions D1 Schools — Five primary sports that potentially give out full-ride scholarships: Men’s/women’s basketball, football, volleyball, baseball D2 Schools — Second Tier Sports — Generally not full-ride scholarships. Coaches in this division are given a â€Å"purse† with which to field their entire team Since the amount is never large enough, coaches look for creative ways in which to make this money go as far as it can. One of the ways is by specifically looking for athletes who are armed with need-based or merit-based money and are not totally dependent upon the money from the coach’s kitty. Michele points out that a coach will more often favor a student with lesser skill and more aid money over one with better skills and no aid money. Bottom Line: Coaches LOVE academic athletes who are armed with merit aid money. So, good grades matter! D3 Schools — Generally do not have any athletic money. Because student athletes attending D3 colleges will not receive athletic scholarships, families determining the level of generosity of these schools will need to do the same type of research that families with non-athletes need to do, by searching for colleges that will meet your family’s financial need and/or award your student for their merit accomplishments. What Every High School Student-Athlete Needs to Know When Should An Athlete Start Preparing? Second semester of the student’s Freshman year, in other words, the earlier the better. Coaches are not permitted to reach out to students before their Junior year, however, there is nothing that says students may not reach out to coaches before that time. In fact, says Michele, showing an interest in a particular school and getting your name in front of a coach beforehand is important. Sports Camps†¦Are They Worth It? Most of these camp invitations are marketing tools, but if your student chooses to go, make sure it is at the college of his or her choice. And because these camps tend to be rather expensive, don’t waste the opportunity: Make sure you know which coaches will be there, and make sure theywill know YOU are there by sending a personal note or resume. Signing Day/ National Letter of Intent Different sports have different signing days, but all of them are emotionally charged and exciting for all involved. Essentially, a National Letter of Intent says that the student will be receiving a certain amount of money to play a particular sport at a particular school. It is a contract, and should be treated as such. Once it is sent back, no further negotiations can be orchestrated. Should a student back out once the letter has been sent, he or she will not be eligible to play for any other NCAA team. It is for this reason that Michele highly recommends that you â€Å"make sure you have all your financial ducks in a row before you send that letter in.† The Takeaway Playing a sport in college is a great achievement, and can have a huge impact on a student’s life. BUT, it won’t necessarily have an impact on a student’s career, so choosing a school that will be a fit major-wise and financially should be a first priority. Athletic scholarships are not guaranteed for four years. They can be taken away: Accidents can happen and new coaches and better players can come along, so it’s advisable to not put all your eggs in the athletic scholarship basket. Its better to cobble together financial aid from a variety of sources. So a student athletes path to college is not really that different than that of a non-athletes after all.

Siege of Leningrad in World War II

The Siege of Leningrad took place from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944, during World War II. With the beginning of the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, German forces, aided by the Finns, sought to capture the city of Leningrad. Fierce Soviet resistance prevented the city from falling, but the last road connection was severed that September. Though supplies could be brought across Lake Ladoga, Leningrad was effectively under siege. Subsequent German efforts to take the city failed and in early 1943 the Soviets were able to open a land route into Leningrad. Further Soviet operations finally relieved the city on January 27, 1944. The 827-day siege was one of the longest and costliest in history. Strategically situated at the head of the Gulf of Finland, the city possessed immense symbolic and industrial importance. Surging forward on June 22, 1941, Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leebs Army Group North anticipated a relatively easy campaign to secure Leningrad. In this mission, they were aided by Finnish forces, under Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, which crossed the border with the goal of recovering territory recently lost in the Winter War. Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb. Â  Bundesarchiv, Bild 183-L08126 / CC-BY-SA 3.0 The Germans Approach Anticipating a German thrust towards Leningrad, Soviet leaders began fortifying the region around the city days after the invasion commenced. Creating the Leningrad Fortified Region, they built lines of defenses, anti-tank ditches, and barricades. Rolling through the Baltic states, 4th Panzer Group, followed by 18th Army, captured Ostrov and Pskov on July 10. Driving on, they soon took Narva and began planning for a thrust against Leningrad. Resuming the advance, Army Group North reached the Neva River on August 30 and severed the last railway into Leningrad (Map). Finnish Operations In support of the German operations, Finnish troops attacked down the Karelian Isthmus toward Leningrad, as well as advanced around the east side of Lake Ladoga. Directed by Mannerheim, they halted at the pre-Winter War border and dug in. To the east, Finnish forces halted at a line along the Svir River between Lakes Ladoga and Onega in East Karelia. Despite German pleas to renew their attacks, the Finns remained in these positions for the next three years and largely played a passive role in the Siege of Leningrad. Cutting Off the City On September 8, the Germans succeeding in cutting land access to Leningrad by capturing Shlisselburg. With the loss of this town, all supplies for Leningrad had to be transported across Lake Ladoga. Seeking to fully isolate the city, von Leeb drove east and captured Tikhvin on November 8. Halted by the Soviets, he was not able to link up with the Finns along the Svir River. A month later, Soviet counterattacks compelled von Leeb to abandon Tikhvin and retreat behind the River Volkhov. Unable to take Leningrad by assault, German forces elected to conduct a siege. The Population Suffers Enduring frequent bombardment, the population of Leningrad soon began to suffer as food and fuel supplies dwindled. With the onset of winter, supplies for the city crossed the frozen surface of Lake Ladoga on the Road of Life but these proved insufficient to prevent widespread starvation. Through the winter of 1941-1942, hundreds died daily and some in Leningrad resorted to cannibalism. In an effort to alleviate the situation, attempts were made to evacuate civilians. While this did help, the trip across the lake proved extremely hazardous and saw many lose their lives en route. Trying to Relieve the City In January 1942, von Leeb departed as commander of Army Group North and was replaced by Field Marshal Georg von KÃ ¼chler. Shortly after taking command, he defeated an offensive by the Soviet 2nd Shock Army near Lyuban. Beginning in April 1942, von KÃ ¼chler was opposed by Marshal Leonid Govorov who oversaw the Leningrad Front. Seeking to end the stalemate, he began planning Operation Nordlicht, utilizing troops recently made available after the capture of Sevastopol. Unaware of the German build-up, Govorov and Volkhov Front commander Marshal Kirill Meretskov commenced the Sinyavino Offensive in August 1942. Marshal Leonid Govorov. Public Domain Though the Soviets initially made gains, they were halted as von KÃ ¼chler shifted troops intended for Nordlicht into the fight. Counterattacking in late September, the Germans succeeded in cutting off and destroying parts of the 8th Army and 2nd Shock Army. The fighting also saw the debut of the new Tiger tank. As the city continued to suffer, the two Soviet commanders planned Operation Iskra. Launched on January 12, 1943, it continued through the end of the month and saw the 67th Army and 2nd Shock Army open a narrow land corridor to Leningrad along the south shore of Lake Ladoga. Relief at Last Though a tenuous connection, a railroad was quickly built through the area to aid in supplying the city. Through the remainder of 1943, the Soviets conducted minor operations in an effort to improve access to the city. In an effort to end the siege and fully relieve the city, the Leningrad-Novgorod Strategic Offensive was launched on January 14, 1944. Operating in conjunction with the First and Second Baltic Fronts, the Leningrad and Volkhov Fronts overwhelmed the Germans and drove them back. Advancing, the Soviets recaptured the Moscow-Leningrad Railroad on January 26. On January 27, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin declared an official end to the siege. The citys safety was fully secured that summer, when an offensive began against the Finns. Dubbed the Vyborg–Petrozavodsk Offensive, the attack pushed the Finns back towards the border before stalling. Aftermath Lasting 827 days, the Siege of Leningrad was one of the longest in history. It also proved one of the costliest, with Soviet forces incurring around 1,017,881 killed, captured, or missing as well as 2,418,185 wounded. Civilian deaths are estimated at between 670,000 and 1.5 million. Ravaged by the siege, Leningrad had a pre-war population in excess of 3 million. By January 1944, only around 700,000 remained in the city. For its heroism during World War II, Stalin designed Leningrad a Hero City on May 1, 1945. This was reaffirmed in 1965 and the city was given the Order of Lenin.

The Legal Battles Of Tobacco Companies - 1154 Words

For years on end, smokers, their families, and even certain government entities have filed suit against tobacco companies. The most recent litigation to date, is one of Cynthia Robinson against big time repeat player, RJ Reynolds. The case is one of thousands filed in Florida after a tossed out $145 billion class action verdict, by the State Supreme Court in 2006. To summarize, the verdict stated that amount awarded by a Miami jury to smokers was excessive. However, the court did affirm the jury s conclusions that tobacco companies misrepresent the addictive nature and health hazards involved with the usage of cigarettes (Gersten). This case opened the door for ill smokers and their families to use these findings as the stones in a sling†¦show more content†¦Product liability - the tobacco companies made and marketed a product that was unfit to use. Negligent advertising - the tobacco companies failed to warn consumers of the risks of smoking cigarettes. Fraud, and [the] vio lation of state consumer protection statutes’. The defendant tobacco companies came out victorious in these original cases. This is partly due to their inability to successfully link tobacco use with the development of cancer. With this, tobacco companies were able to cling to the hypothesis that many factors contributed to cancer, and smoking could not be considered the only cause. Due to this contention, tobacco companies could fall behind the excuse that with a lack of information, they were unable to know about the potential health risks of smoking and therefore could not research them and effectively warn the plaintiff consumers. There were many cases during the first wave of litigation. One of the most prominent, was the case of Lartigue v. R. J. Reynolds. The tobacco company formed their argument by stating that there could be no causal link between the plaintiffs usage of their product, and cancer. The plaintiff based her claims on the breach of warranty and negligenc e. Her complaint alleged that the consumption of the defendants product was the cause of her late husbands death. The case lasted several weeks, and ended with a short

Analysis Of Letter From Birmingham Jail And Johnathan...

Change is a part of human nature. We grow and learn as a society, constantly striving to become our better selves. But as we grow older, some beliefs that are inflicted upon us become written in stone. They are truths we believe, but are not always ethically and morally correct. Society becomes blinded by its traditions about how things are supposed to be done that nobody sees the pain that is being inflicted. Martin Luther King Jr., â€Å"Letter from Birmingham Jail† and Johnathan Swifts, â€Å"A Modest Proposal,† persuade their audience in very different ways but are both effective in using pathos. In order to create an effective call to change, an author must use the emotions of the reader to create a need to take action. In analyzing the texts, the reader can tell right away that both authors take very different approaches to their topic. Swift creates this elaborate plan to end poverty in Ireland by selling children to the upper class for food. It is an extremely satirical essay using irony and logic to try and sway the reader towards his absurd idea, but even goes as far to say that it is not against the hierarchy to do something so extreme, â€Å"And besides, it is not improbable that some scrupulous people might be apt to censure such a practice, (although indeed very un-justly) as a little bordering upon cruelty†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Swift 149). He used various examples of logic and statistics stating how he has already analyzed the different factors to make his idea logical, â€Å"I have already

The Report Presented below Discusses about the Accounting Standard

Question: What Is the Different Accounting Standards in Context of Draft? Answer: Introduction: Research on lobbying standards was conducted since year 1980. One of thing in this regard that is of high interest is finding linkage between the several lobby groups and decision makers. Some of the articles presented and listed in Australian dean council list have been done by introducing a detailed content analysis for identifying the possible connection between lobby groups and decision makers. Accounting is likely to change in future and is constantly changing. Change in accounting standards and the reason is attributable to and has been modelled as lobbying. Standards proposals receives publicly comment by the lobby groups (Al-Htaybat and von Alberti-Alhtaybat 2013). Discussion: An important basis for the managerial performance and measurement of firms are the accounting standards. The examination of the way incentives of auditors influence the lobbying across every financial reporting standard. Various articles span the different accounting issues and it seeks to compare lobbying over long time series. The lobbying of auditors over the reliability of proposed accounting standards have been focused. One of the fundamental quality characteristics is reliability as identified by Financial accounting standard board. Auditors are capable of influencing financial reporting standards at their very genesis by participating in standard setting process through a comment letter lobbying (Baxter 2014). However, the empirical evidence of auditors are limited. Article focuses about group of auditors who are most likely to consistently lobby across standards. Lobbying and accounting regulations: Lobbying is regarded as the vital part of international standard accounting board. The influence of lobbying by auditors incentives have aroused from three basic factors. This involves catering to preference to clients for flexibility in General Accepted Accounting Principle and this will be mainly aligned with FASB and that is related to using of fair value in accounting and managing regulatory costs and expected litigation. It has been ascertained by several evidence there are several factors involved in auditor lobbying. Regulatory scrutiny and supporting the fair value of accounting and prevailing standards of litigation are responsible for auditor lobbying (Biondi and Zambon 2013). However, no evidence was found regarding the driving of auditors lobbying relating to preferences of client for flexibility in GAAP. Three broad non mutually exclusive economic factors have been identified that will shape the lobbying incentive of auditors on reliability over time. In the first part, lobbying of auditors in response to regulatory exposure and changing litigation has been investigated. The proposed accounting standards have been focused with auditors lobbying over its reliability. It has been found that the nature of auditors lobbying has been associate with auditing issues and lawsuits against auditors. In Europe and USA, the setting of completely standard accounting relates to political process. Some of the research relates to research on accounting standard lobbying, it detects the connection between lobby groups, and decision makers by analyzing the statement that are publicly available (Bonin 2013). This also takes place in event of low transparency in setting process of standards. For instance, German commercial code is taken that provides some insights and specific of German lobbying has bee n taken into consideration. People who plan an important role in landscape of German lobbying are the lobby groups who are mostly audit and industry associations. For the modernization of modern GAAP in year 2008, a foist ministry draft law was published by German Ministry of Justice. Draft comprised of some suggestion relating to German Commercial code that would have enormous impact on structural foundation of German accounting (Dyckman and Zeff 2015). Enormous impact was mainly on principles of proper bookkeeping. A government draft law was proposed for the modernization of German GAAP. Some of different accounting standards that have been discussed are as follows: Different accounting standards in context of draft: Fair value of accounting for financial instrument held for trading- As per the law proposed in draft, financial instruments that is held for trading should be valued at fair value. Companies that have obligation of keeping the records would have be mandatory as per this regulation. Relation to German commercial code to International Financial reporting standard- According to capital market oriented groups in Germany, most of companies are not obliged, as there already exist obligation to report. Capitalization of internally generated tangible assets- Some of the internally generated capital assets needs to be capitalized as per envisions of further change. Concerning this, there was no substantial deviation between government draft law and suggestion of ministry (Englund and Gerdin 014). Reserved authoritativeness principle- Financial reporting law and taxation law are thought to be strongly interwoven. Taxation law can be applied in financial reporting and the basis for taxation purpose is build according to financial reporting law. One final reporting package is calculated that serve as basis for dividend payment, taxation and general purpose of financial reporting. Such correlation was partly relinquished with the modernization. Tax effects of modernization- Modernization of German GAAP comes with explicit aim that results in same tax revenue. This indicates that companies are not required to pay more or less taxes (Li 2014). In Germany, Transparency relating to political lobbying is very low. Some the studies conducted on lobbying on accounting standards categorize the comments of lobbyist in three classes. In this part of report, the changing trend is use to explain the extent to which auditor lobbying can be explained. Since 1990s, the proposition of accounting standards using methodologies fair value has increased. A shift toward fair value accounting at the Financial accounting standard board has increased by representation with the agenda (Jaggi 2015). Auditors can report the agenda and this is indicated by the extent to which fair value agenda does not detract from the incentives of auditors (Mohammadi 2015). Such task has enabled them in extracting rent from other FASB issues. With the proposed use of methodologies of fair value in accounting, the auditors lobbying over decreased reliability has been examined. Some of other research accounted for motivation for fierce lobbying against the standards and how the price of stock o some firms were affected by that. Related to the adoption of standard, there was negative abnormal return key events (Quinn 2014). This particular evidence was interpreted as the managers lobbied against the standards for maximizing the personal wealth and value of shareholders. Few authors in the process of setting of accounting standard provided an example of research. UK standard setting processing was examined and hidden influences was raised by few notion and this played a significant role in standard process of setting. It was stressed that the investigation are not restricted to activity of lobbying and statements of public submission. The literature of accounting setting was not sufficiently acknowledged by the influences that are not visible publicly. There was considerable discussion between interested parties and regulators throughput the setting process of accounting standard. Most the part was not included in public domain. This evidence is an example of informal lobbying (Penman 2013). Some unseen influences that occurred within the process of regulation are not supported by such lobbying incidence that included research of standard setting of accounting. In event of when there is no apparent connection between standard setting process and output and some space is provided in other unseen process that is considered to having influence on process. the literature of accounting standard is one of the type of lobbying activities. The outcome of accounting standard setting process was examined by inferring the existence of unseen influences. Exposure drafts represented the visible input into the standard setting process. In the event of outcome being contrary to the expectations, it can be inferred that the unseen influences will be occurring within the settings of standard. Converting the influence will result in eventual IFRS. One of the most intense politicized argument relating accounting was the continuation of lobbying against the standards. International Accounting standards committee addressed this issue at the international level and this event was marked as addressing of the historical controversy (Gaffikin and Aitken 2014). Conclusion: The existence flexible and existence accounting standards was not allowed to continue when IFRS 6 was raised by IASB in year 2008. Such standard were codified into international accounting standard. Some of the influences such as draft and comment paper and those effects are visible in the outcome. Unseen or hidden influences concerning the above discussion needs to be recognized and sometimes the footprints left on them outcome are identified. Some of the major players in setting of accounting standards have invisible influence and this depicts the explanation for inaction of the IASB. There is a need to assess the standard setting process. Some of unproblematic access are offered by publicly available information and some of the thing in area of substantial accounting flexibility concerns accounting for restoration and removal expense. The above discussion widely discuss and acknowledged politicization of accosting standard setting. In the light of adoption of International financi al reporting standards and worldwide promotions, the revelation concerning economically dominant groups would be able to wield such power. Mythical Creatures Essay Example

Mythical Creatures Essay A very good morning to Pn. Nirmala and my dear friends. Today my partner, Kogilavani and myself, Elisha Yeo would like to give an aural presentation on mythical creatures. Mythical creatures have always been a subject of fascination and a topic that is discussed constantly throughout the ages in many different countries. Mythical creatures are almost always literary creatures that generated popularity out of literary circulation and story-telling. They are legendary creatures that at one point were believed to be real beings, while some have their origin traced from literary myths. Mythical creatures can be divided into two groups; the first group consists of creatures that everyone agrees to have existed or still exist today and the other group is composed of creatures in which not everybody agrees as to whether they have existed or not. While the first group is asserted only on literary works and word of mouth, its impact becomes stronger over time. The tale becomes a legend, the legend becomes a history. The other group is considered to be consisting of more elusive magical mythical creatures that still make people wonder if they are real or not. These creatures are more aggressively shown and described on articles, photographs, journals and movies.. The tale becomes a legend, the legend becomes a history. The other group is considered to be consisting of more elusive magical mythical creatures that still make people wonder if they are real or not. Others were based on real baby creatures, originating in garbled accounts of travelers tales; such as the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, which supposedly grew tethered to the earth (and was actually a type of fern). Examples of the legendary creatures can be found in medieval bestiaries and old stories. Conversely, some creatures downplayed as just storytelling, have been ediscovered and found to be real in recent times, such as the Giant squid (the Kraken). In Africa, Natives of the Congo told European visitors of an animal that looked like a cross between a zebra and a giraffe. While the visitors assumed this is just a folk lore, a british scientist found the Okapi to be real. Often mythical creatures are hybrids, a combination of two or more animals. For example, centaur is a combination of a man and horse, the minotaur of a man and bull, and the mermaid, half woman and half fish. These were not always intended to be understood as literal juxtapositions of parts from disparate species. Lacking a common morphological vocabularyclassical and medieval scholars and travelers would attempt to describe unusual animals by comparing them point-for-point with familiar: the giraffe, for example, was called camelopard, and thought of as a creature half-camel, and half-leopard. After reading through the list of mythical creatures I found the phoenix to be a very interesting creature. The Phoenix has long been presented as a symbol of rebirth, immortality, and renewal. The phoenix originated in ancient mythology and has gone through a variety of representations in art/literature, ranging from being fully birdlike to having the head of a dog and suckling its young. Typically, it is considered benevolent, but some tales suggest that humans are not always safe around it. Further, many tales share elements with those of the phoenix. Originally, the phoenix was identified by the Egyptians as a strork or heron-like bird called a benu, known from theBook of the Dead and other Egyptian texts as one of the sacred symbols of worship at Heliopolis, closely associated with the rising sun and the Egyptian sun-God Ra. The Greeks subsequently pictured the bird more like a peacock or an eagle and identified it with their own word phoenix ( ), meaning the color purple-red or crimson (cf. Phoenicia) or a palm tree. According to the Greek mythology the phoenix lived in Phoenicia next to a well. At dawn, it bathed in the water of the well, and the Greek sun-god Helios stopped his chariot in order to listen to its song. Herodotus spoke about the unique capabity of the bird to be consumed in the flames and be reborn from the ashes. In China, the Fenghuang is a mythical bird superficially similar to the phoenix. It is the second most-respected legendary creature (second to the dragon), largely used to represent the empress and females, and as such as the counterpart to the Chinese Dragon, traditionally seen as masculine or imperial. The phoenix is considered the greatest and the leader of birds. In Russian folklore, the phoenix was called the firebird. The phoenix was featured in the flags of Alexander Ypsilantis and of many other captains during the Greek Revolution, symbolizing Greeces rebirth. In addition, the first modern Greek currency bore the name of phoenix. Despite being replaced by a royal Coat of Arms, it remained a popular symbol. What do you think Kogilavani? Which mythical creature did you like best after going through the list of mythical creatures. I on the other hand find the dragon most interesting. Dragons arelegendary creatures, typically with serpentine or otherwise reptilian traits, that feature in the myths of many cultures. There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: theEuropean Dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the Chinese Dragon, with counterparts in Japan, Korea and other Asian countries. The two traditions may have evolved separately, but have influenced each to a certain extent, particularly with the cross-cultural contact of recent centuries. The English worddragon

Benjamin Healthcare Center - Essay Example Factors that increase chances of falls among the patients include cognitive impairment, visual impairment, gait and balance disorders, weakness, musculoskeletal disorders and history of falls among others (Huey, 2000) Health organizations should establish strategies to curb or prevent falls in hospital settings. It should have a screening process where patients are checked to ascertain certain characteristics which present high risks of falling. These features include physical disabilities, age and medications given in the hospital which might lead to patient’s disability. Its established dates back to the Soviet War in Afghanistan, between august 1988 and late 1989, with is objective of formulation being to assist defeat the Russians (Chaliand & Blin, 2007, p. 67).
